In my opinion “Trap or Die 2 “ is the hottest mixtape by far this summer besides maybe Drake’s “October” mixtape. I’m finally happy to see these too artist performing together in Houston, because they are very similar in musical content, but very different in swag, meaning Texas musical culture is very different from Georgia’s sound, but both together makes the best of the dirty south!!

Paul Wall’s official lessening party was the place to be Friday July 9, 2k10 hosted by Houston’s own Johnny Dang’s new jewelry store in sharsptown mall in southwest Houston. The lessening party featured Paul Walls new release “Heart Of a Champion” .The new title is set to be released July 13th worldwide. “The Heart Of A champion” is Paul Wall’s 4th release on Warner Brothers/Atlantic Records. When asked by Heavy Rotation /Magazine “Did you (Paul Wall) plan you’re release date to be 7/13 Houston’s area code” Paul Wall replied “ man it just worked out like that” we didn’t plan that. Miss Dallas celebrity host conducted the interview. The party featured all the H-Town movers and tastemakers like DJ HI C of the Go Djs, Rap-a-lot Records A&R Jay Ellis. OG Pr Nancy Byron, Tigga Pat of Heavy Rotation Tv/ Magazine, Surreal Of Swisha House & J Mack from radio One 97.9 The Box and a hole host of DJ crews and club promoters. After reviewing the album I was very impressed by the track production and the hooks, I think the fans will really enjoy the album, dope beats & Texas classic Hooks. Also Paul Wall is featured in Heavy Rotation Magazine signature issue.

New Lil Wayne EP ‘Human Being’ Dropping This September
2010 is carving itself out to be the year of the anticipated rap album. From Drake toEminem to Rick Ross to Nicki Minaj, fans get just enough time to feast on a new LP before salivation is induced by another superstar’s release.
Lil Wayne’s Carter IV is in heavy contention with Kanye West’s Good Ass Job for most anticipated. The bad news: Weezy fans have to wait until the enigmatic rap star’s November prison release to experience the Carter series’ fourth installment. The good news: “I’m putting out a [Wayne] album called I’m Not A Human Being and I’ll probably drop it on his birthday, September 27,” says Cortez Bryant, Lil Wayne’s co-manager and Young Money CEO.
According to Bryant, the album will be an EP of all new Wayne material to serve as theCarter IV prelude. Fans are also warned not to expect any marketing and promotion bells and whistles.
“We not about to roll out no three month set up,” says Bryant. “I’m not even putting it out in stores. We just gonna put it out virally and maybe package it up for Christmas. Give ’em a hard copy later for fan appreciation.”
Houston Rapper Trae Tha Truth Suing Radio One
Houston rapper Trae Tha Truth (nee Frasier Thompson) will be holding a press conference at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Harris County Civil Courthouse to announce the filing of a lawsuit in the 189th District Court of Harris County Texas, 201 Caroline, 12th Floor, Houston, Texas, against Radio One, which owns and operates Houston radio Station 97.9 KBXX, The Box.
The civil case alleges a consistent pattern of business disparagement, conspiracy and tortious interference. Defendants include Radio One, the radio station’s general manager Doug Abernathy, program manager Terri Thomas and morning show radio personality Nnete Inyangumia. Trae decided to file the lawsuit after the radio station officially banned his music from receiving airplay, and then began to interfere in his relationships with other music industry professionals. Radio One is the seventh largest radio broadcasting company in the country, and is the largest one targeting African American audiences in the U.S. The Box is the only hip hop radio station in Houston.
The suit, which will be filed by Houston attorney Warren Fitzgerald Jr., alleges that Trae was the subject of a radio ban after Nnete falsely accused Trae during an on-air interview of causing the violence which occurred at public festival which he sponsored. Ironically, Trae has arguably been the most active Houston rap artist when it comes to serving the local community. In 2008, Trae was honored by Houston Mayor Bill White and Council Member Peter Brown with his own “Trae Day” in honor of his outstanding community service.

“Working her way through a turbulent city”
Most people in the Houston, TX music scene probably haven’t heard of Kat St.John. Who? Kat St.John .The young California native is one of the markets hottest pop/R&B rising Artist/songwriters in Houston. Her single “Disrespectful” is a blazing hot pop song that could be compared to songs from Lady Ga Ga or Kelis. I recently interviewed Kat St.John while traveling to New Orleans for a performance engagement, we spoke briefly about her music career hear in Houston, to my surprise Kat” explained that its been very hard for her to break into the Houston market. Kat explained that she has performed all over the U.S and also toured with some of the Top industry celebrity like John legend & Jamie Fox. After speaking with Kat St John, I made a few phone calls and discussed the situation with a colleague (a Music industry insider) he shocked me with some surprising news, he went on to state “ Houston presently has no industry outlets or voice in the business presently, the only major outlet would be Beyonce father Mr. Matthew Knowles”. After thinking over the conversation with my colleague, I felt like he doesn’t really understand Houston, this is a great place to start you’re music career for three major reasons (1) of all the southern Cities in the us. Houston has the best economy (2) independent thinkers with independent funds (3) less competition, compared to Atlanta, Ga. Houston is a lot less congested entertainment industry wise.
